Functional Neurology

Functional Neurology is the study and treatment of the human body through the use of the five senses. Functional Neurologists implement cutting edge neuroscience in the rehabilitation and treatment and may also utilize vitamins, herbs, and other natural supplements.

Typically, a functional neurologist serves in the same consulting manner as a medical neurologist. The difference is that the therapies or applications of a functional neurologist do not include drugs or surgery.

Functional Neurology treats a variety of movement disorders, dystonia, post-stroke rehabilitation, and radiculopathy or nerve entrapment syndromes that are consequences of peripheral or central types of lesions.

Functional Neurologists treat conditions like pains from injuries caused by lifting, falls, sports injuries, and auto accidents. The other common conditions treated are:

  • Headaches and chronic pain
  • Learning and attention disorders
  • Vertigo
  • Developmental disorders
  • Head injury or stroke
  • Spinal cord and nerve injuries
  • Movement disorders
